Bright House Networks
Bright House Networks is committed to making it easy for families to control their online experiences. We partner with the community to protect children, present online safety education programs, and provide families with a variety of effective tools to help them manage the content to which their children could be exposed.
Here are just a few examples of our online safety initiatives.
- Kids Stuff Channel. Our high-speed online service, Road Runner, provides a dedicated channel with content developed specifically for children.
- Common Sense Media. Bright House Networks partners with Common Sense Media, a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization, to provide trustworthy information and tools, as well as an independent forum, so parents can make educated decisions as to what media their family should encounter. Specifically, Common Sense Media ratings provide additional information about websites and television programming based on developmental criteria recommendations that parents can easily access, adding another level of control over children’s experiences.
- Online Parental Controls. Bright House Networks offers our customers PureSight Parental Control, which allows parents to set filters on websites by category or time period. Additionally, this software provides comprehensive reports on what sites were visited and at what time and whether it was an allowed or blocked site, helping parents further monitor their kids’ usage.
- Community Participation. Bright House Networks actively partners with a number of organizations and agencies in the communities we serve to implement programs that combat the potential for child exploitation and other online dangers. Some of these include…
- Helping to develop community computer labs that increase computer access and Internet literacy, teach basic computer and Internet skills, and increase online safety awareness among youth users.
- Apply filters to the Internet service we provide to local rec centers and after-school programs to prevent inappropriate content from reaching student users.
- Work with local PTAs, law enforcement agencies, libraries, and school districts to deliver engaging Internet safety presentations and premium items to hundreds of thousands of elementary and middle-school students.
