Web Wise Kids
At Web Wise Kids we believe Wisdom Begins With You and so we strive to provide both youth and adults with innovative programs specifically designed to meet the Internet safety needs of emerging technology. Our mission is to empower you to make wise choices online.
We use detective style high tech computer game simulations, based on real-life criminal cases, to prepare today’s youth to safely and confidently explore the growing frontier of Cyber Space. Our programs capture a kid’s attention in a fun way that “another lecture from an adult” can never do. WWK believes in a Community Shield approach to Internet safety education, working through existing networks of law enforcement, educators, youth leaders and parents.
MISSING – A Program for 11-14 year olds
QUESTION: How do you teach “today’s tech savvy” kids about Internet safety?
ANSWER: Challenge them to outwit an Internet predator.
Based on a true story, the award winning MISSING interactive computer game puts players in the role of a detective. The goal is to find Zack, a boy who spent hours in chat rooms and then disappeared. MISSING gives players the opportunity to safely learn from Zack’s mistakes without making similar mistakes in their own lives.
CYBERCOPS SERIES – Programs for Teens
The Internet presents teens with countless opportunities for social interaction. With a growing range of communication opportunities at their fingertips, it is easy for teens to get caught in a web of online victimization. In response to this problem, Web Wise Kids is proud to introduce Mirror Image and AirDogs.
In Mirror Image issues such as cyber stalking, modeling scams, chat rooms, online romances and computer viruses are addressed. AirDogs teaches teens that online crimes—software piracy, fraud, extortion, and bullying—have lifelong legal and social consequences for themselves and their families.
These two educational computer games prepare teenagers to maintain a higher standard of personal safety and personal responsibility on the Internet by teaching them how to be their own first line of defense.WIRED WITH WISDOM – A Parent Program
Today’s culture bombards families with new parenting challenges in the field of technology. Making even basic decisions about the family’s computer and Internet usage can be quite a hurdle for parents whose kids are often more Internet-savvy than they are.
Wired With Wisdom is a one-of-a-kind virtual learning adventure available online or as a download and features five learning components, each of which can be completed in only 20 minutes. The issues addressed include: social networking, personal websites, the World Wide Web, chat rooms, instant messaging, email, cell phone dangers and emerging technology.
Web Wise Kids will continue to strive to provide educational answers for the potential dangers to our youth with the new frontier in modern communications.
